Time for power catamarans is here

Brilliant vision and coincidence were the two main contributors in the making of the Aquila range of power catamarans—today the world’s leading power catamaran brand.

Creative guru Lex Raas (of Beneteau/ Leopard/Moorings/TUI Marine heritage) joined forces with Bill McGill, the boating sales visionary and boss of MarineMax (by far the world’s largest boat sales organization), and a new breed and range of power catamarans was set. The missing link was finding the right builder, so Lex and J&J traveled to Fuyang in China and met with the Xiong family, strong and ambitious boatbuilders of long experience known for their high-quality work.

The rest is history: after the first model, a 48-footer, the Aquila 44 was launched. The DNA of the line called for comfortable and convenient yachts capable of offering families exciting sailing vacations in the most beautiful areas, like the Caribbean. The Aquila 44 has timeless lines, with a very innovative deck layout with easily communication areas like the cockpit, flybridge and the well-appointed foredeck, and a beautiful owner’s cabin with a central position offering both vast space and views. Two guest cabins in the hulls added comfort for the whole family. She sailed very smoothly, the added bow bulbs helped to get amazing mileage per gallon (1 gallon per mile at cruising speed) and made the ride easy in all conditions.

Aquila 44 became the bestseller of the range with close to 200 units delivered so far—and still selling well. This yacht built a solid platform for the growth of the Aquila brand on its path to the world leadership. The 90000 m2 factory gives all it takes for further growth expected by the markets.

Aquila 44 won three Boat of the Year awards in USA and in Singapore (2014, 2015 and 2018, respectively).
