Bavaria 49

Design No. 124

2002

1000 times sold 50-footer

The Bavaria 49 project represented the pinnacle of J&J’s work with Bavaria and Winfried Hermann.

The design, engineering, tooling and production process were in complete harmony, built on ten years of experience teaming together and designing over fifty models for Bavaria.

Bavaria 49 was a 50-footer with 3-, 4- or 5-cabin layouts, robust woodwork, simple and well-engineered systems, fast under sail or power, and easy to handle.  She had a strong and well-built timeless design. Easy to sail, maintain, and own. And easier to build than any Bavaria boat before.

Bavaria 49 was a huge commercial success, equally loved by private owners and charter guests. More than a thousand were built—the height of production reached 370 yachts in a year, which may be the best production achievement ever for a boat  this size in the industry. She was a clear bestseller in sales volume for our office, and created the backbone for the fast and profitable growth of the company in the future years.
